Akhilesh cornered the government regarding the appointment of DGP

Lucknow. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has raised questions on the latest decision of the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh. The appointment of Director General of Police was approved in the cabinet meeting in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Now the appointment of DGP in UP can be done only from the state government level. In this regard, the Cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday approved the Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh (Chief of Police Force of Uttar Pradesh) Selection and Appointment Rules 2024. On this, SP National President Akhilesh Yadav wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday that arrangements are being made to give a permanent post to a senior officer and extend his tenure by two years. Now the question is whether those who made the system themselves will stay for two years or not? After this, he sarcastically wrote that isn’t this an attempt to take the reins from the hands of Delhi? Delhi vs Lucknow 2.0. On this, BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi retorted and said that Akhilesh Yadav is constantly reminded of his tenure and how during his tenure there used to be four legs of the Chief Minister’s chair. Ramgopal Yadav used to draw one. Secondly, Shivpal Yadav used to draw. The third one was drawn by Mulayam Singh Yadav and the fourth one was drawn by Azam Khan.

He further said that he had publicly accepted how troubled Akhilesh has been throughout his tenure. How the cabinet had to be reshuffled again and again at the behest of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Sometimes he removes ministers and sometimes appoints them. Akhilesh Yadav remembers his helplessness. Therefore, to overcome his sorrow, he resorts to making absurd allegations against the present government of Uttar Pradesh. Rakesh Tripathi said that the Yogi Adityanath government of the Bharatiya Janata Party is being run in a democratic manner. Also consults the Cabinet and the organization, but the Chief Minister takes the decisions. At least Akhilesh Yadav should not try to remove his sorrow by making such baseless allegations. It should be known that now the Director General of Police in the state can be appointed from the state government level only. In the Selection and Appointment Rules 2024, a provision has been made to constitute a nomination committee under the chairmanship of a retired Justice of the High Court. The minimum tenure of DGP has been fixed at two years.
